My Greek Experience

One of the joys of online-games is you can chat with your opponent while playing.

There was this one conversation I had with an amiable fellow that would always make me smile whenever I dig into my archives of chats.
We were playing backgammon then….. (a game that requires the rolling of 2 cubes similar to a die and which when you roll doubles….gives you an edge over the opponent because you get another turn to play which in turn gives you the chance to finish first) ……anyways, I got lucky because halfway through our game I was rolling doubles almost every turn.

Suddenly, he said: “there gose the doubles agen!”.

I replied: “’tis my lucky night, i guess”, and smiled to myself.

He said: ” ware ar you from?”

I replied: “Amsterdam”.

Then he said: ” Ahh….like me……Urope.”

That did it…. and I realized I was enjoying the conversation more than the game itself.

I asked, ” where are u from?”.

He answered: “Greece”.
We finished playing by the time he said that and we exchanged the usual “good game, thank u” ritual and then he continued talking….

He asked: “You ever bean in Greece?”

I said, “not yet.” ….. after I finally digested the bean… errr the question.

To which he said, “Go to the Greek islands. They ar grate, specialy Mikonos….only yang people ther…… i yous to go to the islands and party all knight….. ar u marry?
By that time I was already laughing out loud by myself and I’m sure my neighbor downstairs thought I was really nuts.

I said: “yes, I am.”

“Any kits?” he asked.

I said, “I’ve got 3 girls.” when I figured out he’s not asking about my cats.
Then he said: “I yous doo be hippy in 1964. Now i have 1 wife, 3 thauters, 2 suns, and 2 grandkits. I have a grate family.”

I couldn’t control my laughter anymore ….. I’ve got tears in my eyes,
I couldn’t think of what to say and typed “ok..”

When I regained my composure, I thanked him for a nice game and a wonderful chat to which he replied:

“You are very nice lady. Your habbent mast be very lucky man.”
That sent me laughing again and I typed a fast “thank you” before I went rolling off my chair laughing my ass off.

Ah the joys of word confuse! As an ex-Eng. teacher, I always get a kick out of interesting spelling [Eng. sucks to learn anyway] and especially changes in meaning. Made-up words as well, as the fabulous Lewis Carroll still entertains.
Also read your responses to online ad–looked so much like the gobble gabble I got, oh me, oh my! Your takes added more laughs.
