All but Death…. can be adjusted – Emily Dickinson

June 2009 would be remembered sadly as the month when three iconic
celebrity figures left this world and passed on to the “Next Room”.

MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON

(August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

Although I had followed less of Michael after the late 80’s, I still acknowledege his immeasurable talent and the awesome contributions he gave to the music world.

Referred to as the “King of Pop”, his 1982 album Thriller remains the world’s best-selling album of all time.

The first African American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as “Beat It”, “Billie Jean” and “Thriller’ was widely credited for transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form.

Videos such as “Black or White” and “Scream” made Jackson an enduring staple in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk.

FARRAH LENI FAWCETT

(February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009)

-

I remember the time when every other girl in high school wears a “Farah Fawcett” hairstyle.

Iconic 1976 poster of Farrah Fawcett. First published in Life magazine in 1976, it is the best-selling pin-up poster of all time, with more than 12 million copies sold.

A multiple Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee, Fawcett rose to international fame when she first appeared as private investigator Jill Munroe in the TV series
Charlie’s Angels in 1976.

She was once married to the “Six Million Dollar Man” Lee Majors.

JOHN ARTHUR ”DAVID” CARRADINE

(December 8, 1936 – June 3, 2009)

-

Best known for his work in the 1970s television series Kung Fu and more recently in the Kill Bill films.

He appeared in more than 100 feature films and was nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award. Carradine starred as Kwai Chang Caine on the hit TV series and was nominated for Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. Despite his oriental appearance, Carradine was not in fact Chinese.
